Certification Exam Preparation Online Workshop
The NASFAA Certification Exam Preparation Online Workshop is an opportunity for motivated financial aid professionals to gain helpful insight about the knowledge exam. This facilitated, virtual experience will be led by NASFAA training staff members and currently certified FAACs. Each week, participants will meet online for high-level review of the 12 content areas covered on the exam.
- The online workshop is five weeks in length, featuring weekly 90-minute meetings hosted on Zoom, along with optional “Ask Me Anything” sessions on Slack.
- Independent review and supplemental work may be recommended to be completed on your own between meetings.
- Workshop participants will receive complimentary access to the exam preparation guide, a practice exam only available to workshop attendees, and the knowledge exam — a value of $525.
For best results, workshop participants are strongly encouraged to sit for the knowledge exam during the first two testing windows immediately following the workshop. Exam outcomes have revealed group review increased the likelihood of success on the knowledge exam compared to independent study. Typically, 7 out of 10 candidates are successful through independent study. After attending a workshop, 9 out of 10 candidates were successful who took the exam within 30 days.
Price: $499 $299 for 2024-25. Reminder: Workshop participants will receive complimentary access to the exam preparation guide, a practice exam only available to workshop attendees, and the knowledge exam — a value of $525. Eligibility Requirements
To participate, you must have an active, approved certification application on file. View your current application status within your certification dashboard. If your application is expired, simply review the information, make necessary updates, and resubmit the application. The $50 application fee is waived until further notice.
Equipment Requirements
To participate, you must be able to fully engage with the online-based meeting. This includes having a webcam or video input on your computer or device and having both a microphone and speakers for active audio participation. Sessions will depend on Zoom video conferencing software (zoom.us). You can use new or existing accounts for these services; they are not tied to any NASFAA account. To ensure the best possible experience, participants are strongly discouraged from participating by phone only.
Note: Weekly meetings will be recorded for those who develop unexpected conflicts during the 5-week period. However, live virtual attendance is strongly encouraged each week for dialog and conversation as we discuss exam material.
Registrants will receive login and participation instructions via email shortly before the first session.

Summer 2024
Weekly online meetings will take place via Zoom from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays between July 16 and August 13, 2024. (July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13). This workshop will utilize 2024-25 materials.
Fall 2024
Weekly online meetings will take place via Zoom from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays between October 1 and October 29, 2024. (October 1, October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29). This workshop will utilize 2024-25 materials.
Winter 2025
Weekly online meetings will take place via Zoom from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays between January 14 and February 13, 2025. (January 14, January 21, January 28, February 4, February 13). Note that the last meeting is scheduled on Thursday. This workshop will utilize 2024-25 materials.
Spring 2025
Weekly online meetings will take place via Zoom from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays between May 13 and June 10, 2025. (May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, June 10). This workshop will utilize 2025-26 materials.
